Water Bills (similar to gas and electric the way they are dealt with)

Reevaluating Our Relationship with Water Companies

  • Contract or Assumption? Have you ever signed a contract with your water provider, or do they just presume you’re on board for their service?
  • My Stand: I’ve chosen not to pay for what I perceive as contaminated water. Since August 2023, I’ve withheld payment, standing firm on this principle.
  • The Proof: Through a Subject Access Request, I confirmed there’s no contractual agreement between me and the water company. This lack of contract is crucial.
  • Legal Defense: Should they attempt legal action, my SAR (Subject Access Request) will serve as evidence that no debt or liability exists without mutual consent via contract.
  • Protected Access: Importantly, in England, cutting off water supply is against the law, ensuring this stand doesn’t leave one without water.

This isn’t just about questioning a bill; it’s challenging the assumptions underlying our utility services.
